How to fix Windows 10 Language pack error 0x80070422 [Solved]
1st Attempt:
The journey to solve this problem started when I was trying to install the Japanese language pack on windows 10 64bit , when the language pack refuses to be installed by the normal Microsoftish way (Windows Support -Language packs for Windows).
That haven't succeed...
(please read the following on your responsibility, please back up as much as you can before change)
2nd Attempt:
Then I have tried to load the pack to install it manually ,after loading it ,I opened the RUN app and typed Lpksetup and followed the steps, till I found another problem , the error beside a yellow triangle is "the language back cannot be installed" , and the windows left me with no answer.
That haven't succeeded also.
3rd Attempt:
trying to troubleshooting Windows update but the troubleshooter didn't know the reason.
So I have tried to go to services app , and chosen the
windows update feature and activated it and pressed apply then
pressed
start.
I found the service is stopped again
That haven't succeeded as well.
4th attempt:
I found that it may be the machine policy may affect the services , The group policy in windows 10 is usually stored at:
C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\Machine
If you are not sure you can use this path instead:
%systemroot%\system32\grouppolicy\machine
you will find a Registry.pol file, I have searched the internet to find how to edit .pol file , the maximum thing that I have found was to apps for viewing the contents of the file. I have continued my search till that I can edit it in regedit (type regedit at run app then go to :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU
then change the NoAutoUpdate to 0)
till this point it might work for some people , but I needed an additional steps
Go to: Run app then type gpedit.msc
this will open the general policies editor, it looks like you finally tamed this shrew ...
just go to : computer configuration\administrative templates\Windows components\windows update.
then change it to your desired way, go to RUN app and type gpupdate /force ,but one more step I have needed the system file checker:
Go to CMD and run it as Administrator , then type : sfc /scannow
after scan is finished, open the system configuration by typing msconfig in the RUN app , choose the services tap, check the bottom box "Hide all Microsoft services", the uncheck any app you suspect it prevents auto update.
you might need to do the steps of Attempt 3 again. and restart the service.

Then , Voila........ DONE.
you can now go to settings and add the Japanese language in the normal way.
